Tips for Healthy Baby Teeth
Healthy baby teeth lay the foundation for a bright adult smile. We’ve put together the most important dental care tips for toddlers — simple, easy to understand, and practical for everyday life.

Frequency & Duration
Daily dental care begins as soon as the first tooth erupts. From this point on, teeth should be brushed twice a day (morning and evening), thoroughly cleaning each tooth for about 10 to 15 seconds. Evening brushing before bed is especially important. Afterward, your child should not eat or drink anything (except water), so teeth stay protected overnight.
Until around age 8 to 10, parental involvement is essential: take over or supervise brushing, as young children’s fine motor skills aren’t yet developed enough to reliably clean every tooth surface.

Not every toothbrush and toothpaste is suitable for children. Choose a small, soft children’s toothbrush that’s gentle on the gums and can easily reach the back teeth. For toothpaste, we recommend a fluoride children’s toothpaste in an age-appropriate dosage for children aged 0 to 6. Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and provides effective protection against tooth decay.
The COI Method
For thorough cleaning, we recommend the COI method, which covers all three key tooth surfaces: chewing surfaces, outer surfaces, and inner surfaces.
The letters indicate the brushing sequence: first, the chewing surfaces are cleaned with a back-and-forth motion, followed by the outer surfaces, and finally the inner surfaces of the teeth. These last two surfaces are best cleaned with small circular motions to thoroughly remove plaque without irritating the gums.
The COI method is easy to learn and helps children develop a structured brushing routine that truly covers every area.
Bonus Tip: Music to Beat the Brushing Battle
The same argument about brushing teeth, every single evening. Sound familiar? With the right song playing in the background, brushing time can quickly become fun. We recommend these two songs on YouTube as brushing companions (fair warning — they’re catchy!):
